The Vintage

The 2016 vintage was a warm, gentle season, unusually long for the Snake River Valley, with a cool fall. The spring started early and warm, the summer was gentle with lots of days in the 90’s but few over 100 degrees F. September cooled down significantly, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and the winemaker to pick at exactly the optimal time for the desired style. The yield was ample enough to merit thinning the crop to leave only the best clusters. The white wines are elegant with lively, balanced acids and the reds are intensely fruity with long, textured finishes. 3100 growing degree days.

Tasting Notes

Stone fruit mingles with a touch of citrus while the minerality on the finish makes the experience crisp and refreshing.

Production Notes

Laissez Faire White is a Sauvignon Blanc based blend, chosen and fermented to emphasize crisp, fresh fruit styles for everyday drinking. The aromas are a fresh mix of lemon peel, tart green apple with a hint of flower blossom and green grass. Texture is medium bodied in the mouth and the finish is long, with bright, lingering acidity.  Flavors echo the aromas with Granny Smith apple, grapefruit and key lime pie.

Pairing suggestions

With the lean, refreshing finish we recommend contrasting this wine with rich seafood such as crab rangoon, shrimp scampi or lobster salad.
